Dear Parents and Carers, Pupils and Staff
Thank you all for your support during the first week back. Please take a moment to read the updates below:
Queen Elizabeth II
As the events following the Queen’s passing continue to unfold, it is evident that we are witnessing a significant moment in world history.
The Queen’s life stands as an example of duty and courage, sacrifice and service. Her 70 plus year reign stands unparalleled in our country’s history and the values she embodied are needed now more than ever.
Today, the Head Boy, Elliot Brown, the Head Girl, Flora Wilson, and I visited All Saints Church to sign the book of condolences. Next week, pupils will be given more opportunities to reflect on the life of the Queen.
I will keep you all updated regarding events as they affect schools in due course.
Attendance and Punctuality
Pupils do need to maintain good rates of attendance and punctuality. This also applies between lessons when moving quickly to the next lesson is essential. After the summer term with Year 11 on study leave, the return to school always feels busy, so I expect pupils to find their week 2 lessons quickly this coming week, after which point we will have seen one full cycle of the timetable through so everyone should be able to be in class within 2 or 3 minutes after the bell.
If pupils are late in the morning, they will have an after school detention.
Please, therefore, make sure your children are at school by 08:20am at the latest.
Please also remember that pupils should not be in the building before school unless it is wet
Uniform, jewellery and nails
Pupils have looked very smart this week – thank you. The challenge is now to keep it up.
Hoodies are not permitted and must not be brought in. They will be confiscated if pupils have them in school.
Nose piercings are not allowed and again will be confiscated if worn. There are also still some nail extensions that need to be removed.
Homework
Next week, I shall set out our revised approach to Homework this year. It is important that pupils complete homework in good time and hand it in in a timely fashion. Year 7 parents have been sent Satchel One logins this week. Please ask Mr Oxborrow if you need further guidance.

As I finish, I will return to Her Late Majesty and her life of service, inspired by her Christian faith.
May we learn from her example this year and beyond and look to serve others before ourselves.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
Yours
John Cornish
