Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to a short round up of the week – with the bank holiday this week and the Coronation ove the coming weekend, time is flying by at the moment!
This week:
- Year 11 pupils have been given their final exam timetables and have had their final exam briefing – they are well prepared for the task ahead and we are looking forward to seeing them give of their best in the upcoming exam season. Materials are on the website. They have also had a letter regarding Prom sent to their parents and carers.
- Well done to all pupils who have been involved in the Watersports activities this week. This includes Year 10 Sailing and Year 7 Windsurfing. Thank you to all staff involved also
- Thank you also to the Safer School’s and Communities Team and Officer Stuart Hann who visited school this week to talk with pupils in Year 8 & 9 about e-safety and image sharing in particular. I realise that young people today live in a very different world to the one that parents and carers grew up in terms of technology and I cannot stress enough the importance of checking your child’s device often and talking with them regularly about safe use of mobiles and other devices.
Next week:
- Please remember school is closed next Monday 8 May due to the additional Bank Holiday for the coronation
- Year 8 have their second Project Touchline Session on Tuesday 9 May and can wear PE kit on that day
- Year 7 Parent Consultation Evening is on Thursday 11 May. The letter is on our website; parents / carers should book appointments here https://allsaintscofeacademy.schoolcloud.co.uk/
- We welcome “Escape Line” to school on Friday 12 May to talk with pupils about the risks of County Lines
- Year 10 Sailing continues on Weds & Fri next week and a group of Year 10 pupils will have a windsurfing rewards visit with Mr Kelsall
Looking ahead:
- Monday 15 May – Year 7 Project Touchline. Pupils can wear PE kit
- Tuesday 16 May – Year 8 Project Touchline. Pupils can wear PE kit; also on this day, K9 Deployment visit with their lovely search and rescue dogs
- Thursday 25 May – Principal’s Breakfast during tutor time
- Friday 26 May – Royal Navy visit to Food & Nutrition; last day of half term with a 3pm finish
A quick reminder to our expectations:
With the year moving towards the final term, I think it’s fair to say that everyone has done well to get back to normal schooling after two years of significant disruption due to Covid. Pupils are increasingly catching up on the gaps in their knowledge, but I can see some are getting tired with all of the mental exertion.
To ensure we have a positive final 9 or 10 weeks, I would like to remind all parents and carers about the expectations below that will help us have a positive and productive final run in:
- Pupils must wear their blazers and full uniform. There is no need to wear jumpers in the summer months.
- Pupils must arrive on time to school. If they are late to school without a valid reason, an automatic 30 minute detention is issued.
- Pupils must attend lessons on time. If they are deliberately late to lessons or truant during the school day they will be isolated for the remainder of the day, since truancy is very disruptive for all pupils
- Having the correct equipment for school in terms of a pencil case is a non-negotiable – pupils cannot write if they do not have a pen.
- There is no excuse for verbal or physical aggression towards other pupils or members of staff and sanctions, including suspension, will be used in such cases
Our school values: Wisdom, Community, Kindness, Responsibility and Sustainability give a clear framework for pupils to get on well with one another and staff. If we all do our best to live these out, we will have a great summer.
Finally…
I hope that you are able to enjoy the upcoming Bank Holiday and can spend some much needed time recharging with friends and family. With another significant national event upon us, it may be that you wish to take up an invitation to pray for our new King at this time…
Dear Lord
We pray for King Charles as a school community.
Bless his reign over this country and the Commonwealth.
Grant him the strength to flourish and work for and with us,
So that truth, honesty and fairness flourish amongst us all.
We ask that you support him in his reign through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Every blessing for a great weekend
Kind Regards
John Cornish
