Dear Parents and Carers, Pupils and Staff

Welcome to my weekly update

The weather this week has been glorious and I have been pleased to have so many positive conversations with pupils about the importance of sunscreen and staying hydrated.

Please remember that pupils do not have to wear their blazer once they arrive at school in hot weather.

They should not wear a PE jumper at this time.

Geography Fieldwork

Thank you to all pupils and staff involved in the Geography fieldwork this week. These visits could not have had better weather. The days out to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove have gone very well and pupils’ conduct has been exemplary. There are pictures on our social media feeds.

Protected Characteristics & Discrimination

Every year group has had an assembly with me this week looking at the topic of Protected Characteristics and the need to act in a respectful way. Pupils have been taught about the Equality Act and the need to think about how discrimination can be stopped. Details can be found on our website in the Safeguarding Information part of our website

Next week, in assemblies with Heads of Year, pupils will receive a message to support the Anti Bullying Awareness Day taking place on 22 June. You can read more here:

Year 11 Leavers Service

Next week on Thursday, Year 11 pupils will take part in their Last Day at All Saints. This event is always a thought provoking and emotional occasion. Pupils will be given more details in a short assembly after their exam on Monday. We will therefore ask all pupils doing the Foundation paper to wait in the Canteen after the Chemistry exam on Monday. Mr Prior will send further details but we do want to keep as much a secret as possible so pupils enjoy a great day!

Primary School Transition and Liaison

It is a busy time with liaison and transition with our primary schools. On Tuesday 21 June, we have our Year 6 Transition Information Evening which starts at 6pm. Year 6 parents will join us to meeting members of the team and continue the transition process.

At the end of the week, we then begin a series of Year 5 Experience days which will introduce Year 5 pupils to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

We would to extend a warm welcome to everyone ahead of these visits and thank our local primary colleagues.

School Show

I am pleased to confirm that in the 2022-23 academic year, All Saints will be putting on a school show.

Next week, pupils will get a set of “teasers” to help them guess the musical and see if they can identify it before the formal announcement the week after! If your child would like to take part, please ask them to keep an eye out for details. Mrs Rees will be leading this project.

The School Week

Following the release of the Department for Education White Paper, all schools are being asked to ensure that they deliver at least a 32.5 hour week.

Next week, I will write formally to you all about how we intend to adapt to this requirement.

On Monday, a number of pupils in Year 7 & 8 will take part in a visit to the Chalke Valley History festival. I hope they are looking forward to the occasion.

Wishing you all every blessing for a restful weekend. God bless each and every one of you.

Kind Regards

John Cornish
