Dear Parents and Carers

A couple of brief updates this week – please take a moment to read them:

Bank Holiday – Monday 19 September

Please remember that school will be closed on Monday for the State Funeral of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

I was pleased with pupil’s engagement with two assemblies this week in which we reflected on the life and contribution of the Queen to public life.

Thank you to our Head Boy and Girl, Elliott Brown and Flora Wilson, for their contribution to these times and for working with myself and Brother Ally to set the tone for this occasion. You have both made an excellent start in your new roles at this historic time.

Line ups and lesson changeover

Please do read the letter about line ups and lesson changeover next week that is on our website. We are making a change to how we operate things here, so it’s important that everyone is clear that pupils in Y7 – 10 should continue to attend morning line up at 0825 but then progress straight to class after break and lunch. This is to maximise lesson time.

Thank you for your support regarding uniform. There have been far fewer instances of pupils wearing nose studs or other similar items. I am very grateful for this.

Next week, we are having a focus on non school jumpers. Hoodies must not be worn and will be confiscated.

Legally Blonde Junior The Musical

I was delighted to post out details of the audition schedule for our school musical earlier this week on social media and through tutor notices.

It is going to be a fantastic occasion and I am looking forward to it already!

It would be great to see as many pupils involved as possible – please ask your child to talk with Mrs Rees if they are interested in taking part in any role, no matter how large or small.

Open Evening

I am delighted to welcome all prospective parents to our Year 6 Open Evening on 6 October at 6pm.

The evening will open with a short presentation from myself and will then proceed to be filled with all of our curriculum areas showcasing pupils’ work and talents. Our current pupils always play a fantastic role in promoting their school and I am sure that this year will be no different.

If your child is interested in taking part, please ask them to talk to Mr Purkis.

Please share this invitation with friends and neighbours who may be interested

Finally, wishing you deep and genuine peace this weekend and every blessing for your family

Best Regards

John Cornish
