Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to a short round up of the week. It has certainly been a warm and busy one!

Year 11

The end of the GCSE series is well in sight now with some the final exams taking place early next week. Well done to pupils in Year 11 – the standards of attendance and behaviour overall throughout this series have been very good.

Remember that next Wednesday is our Leaver’s Day and is always a special day of the year as we take the chance to look back on the last 5 years.

Without going into all of the details – we like to keep some of it as a surprise on the day, please be aware that pupils should arrive as normal and attend the canteen at around 0820am where we will put on a breakfast for them. They will then have a formal leavers service taken by the Revd. Betty Port. Pupils should wear full uniform for that part of the morning after which the informal celebrations will begin. There will be time on the field, a BBQ and a final leaver’s assembly. Pupils will finish at around 1pm on that day.

End of Year exams for Y7-10

These have begun (or will do shortly) for the other year groups and I must say how impressed I was when walking the site this afternoon. It is important that pupils are quite at lesson changeover particularly at the moment – this helps those in double lessons continue to focus fully.

Year 10 exams will be held in the Sports Hall beginning towards the end of next week. Pupils should have clear plastic water bottles and must be aware that they are not allowed to take any mobile phones, watches, smart watches or other devices into the exam hall. We will treat the session formally as a practice for the exams next year, so we do expect pupils to arrive in good time and listen carefully to the invigilator team, as well as staff leading the final briefings / loading the hall.

Events this week

We have only been back a short while and already events are in full flow. Thank you to Year 10 pupils and, of course, Mr Clarke-Jones and our History Department, for an excellent Year 10 visit to Sherborne castle this week.

We also welcomed Positively You for workshops with Year 9 & 10 in the Hall about Making Informed Decisions.

In addition, the PE Department continues to offer a wide range of fixtures and opportunities – great to see Beach Volleyball in the offer this week!

Uniform Fitting Event

Next week, please remember that we have our Uniform Fitting Event on Wednesday after school. This is an important opportunity to try sizes on in the new uniform. More details can be found here:

Finally

Thank you for your support with the uniform issues that we are trying to tackle at the moment. Your support in preparing for pupils for the workplace where they will have to follow a dress code is much appreciated

With best wishes for a restful weekend
